The Director, with the help of the Electra Service Corporation Board and the City Commission, oversees the operation of the Annie Powell Senior Citizens Center. The center acts as a hub for much of the organized senior citizen activities in the community. This includes a congregate lunch program, nutrition education by a registered dietician, Home Delivered Meals (Meals on wheels), and a transportation program to help disabled and elderly adults get to medical appointments, grocery shopping, bill paying, banking and other important appointments. In addition, the Center helps organize a monthly Jamboree where the entire community is invited to eat, socialize and enjoy the music and fellowship.
