Business Development Corporation of Electra (BDCE), a nonprofit corporation, serves the City of Electra in administering the Type B (4b) sales tax in support of community and economic development projects. The seven-member board was created following voter approval of a half-cent economic development sales tax in 1999.

The goal of the Business Development Corporation of Electra is to improve the City of Electra by assisting in attracting new business and jobs, supporting and retaining existing businesses, improving infrastructure, promoting the community, assisting in the development of recreational and entertainment facilities, developing affordable housing, and encouraging the fair enforcement of city ordinances and codes.

The City of Electra welcomes both new business and expansion of existing businesses. To encourage economic growth, Business Development of Electra offers business incentives on a case-by-case basis, in accordance with applicable state law and the Corporation's mission statement printed above.

Free, confidential support for entrepreneurs is available through a joint project with the City of Iowa Park. For information about the North Central Texas Enterprise Facilitation project, click here.

In addition to economic development incentives available through BEDC, both the City and its Main Street Project offer incentives for preservation of commercial property within the Downtown Electra Historical District.

BDCE has expended significant resources in support of water infrastructure improvements since its creation in 1999.
